Ceremonial Protocol

The members of Soul of the Mother want to welcome you to our Healing Lodge and ceremonial grounds on the shores of the Grand River. We are careful to steward these lands for the many people who come to the land seeking healing and spiritual renewal. We offer guidance for you to follow as you join us in transformative experiences on the land. Your safety and well-being are our utmost concern.

  1. The ceremonies are open to all persons who respect the sacredness of the Lodge and the directions provided by the Ceremonial Leaders.
  2. Please respect all participants and act with patience and kindness.
  3. Participation in ceremonies is by personal choice.
  4. Please practice spiritual discipline in between ceremonies to integrate the teachings and be responsible for your healing.
  5. Children are most welcome in ceremonies. Parents are responsible for the safety of their children, knowing a river and a busy highway are nearby.
  6. Children under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and have written permission from the parent or guardian if accompanied by another adult.
  7. Our land and lodges are sacred and alcohol- and drug-free.
  8. Please keep the land and Lodge clean and tidy.
  9. Family members who wish to support the healing journey of their loved one will be advised on the most appropriate time to attend the closing feast.
  10. Participants are required to prepare themselves, the offerings, and the ceremonial grounds for the onset of ceremony; keep the ceremonial grounds clean and tidy at all times; clean up after the completion of ceremony; and respect that no pets are allowed on site or in the camping area.
  11. Regalia from your Nation is appreciated as daily attire. Proper dress is required at all times on ceremony grounds. Women are asked to wear long skirts and long- or short-sleeved shirts. Men wear long pants and long- or short-sleeved shirts.
  12. All participants must sign liability waivers. Medical conditions must be reported to the Ceremonial Leaders and Hosts of the gathering. Medical forms must be completed by all participants with a complete list of your medications and the name of the person designated by you to administer such in case of emergency.
  13. Emergency numbers for your family are required on the registration form.
  14. We ask you to refrain from taking photos or posting ceremony on social media, Facebook, Instagram, or other sites.
